Jessica Beran, Owner

Jessica has been teaching children for over 20 years. It is her passion and calling to give children the gift of dance. Dance has been a part of her life since the age of 3.

Jessica received her BA in Theatre and Dance from the University of South Carolina. In college, she studied and danced with many directors/companies through the school and workshops. She also was accepted to and studied intensely at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. It was there that she realized that teaching was what she wanted to do. She began Dance Moves 8 years ago traveling to different schools in the Charleston area. She has been following her dreams ever since.

In 2006 she filmed a DVD for preschoolers based on her preschool dance curriculum that is sold all over the country on her site, Amazon, and EBay. She thanks her husband and family who encouraged her to be what she wanted even though “you cannot do anything with a dance degree.”

Jessica has 2 children Hendrix (4) and Ellie (1) and adores being a Mother. That is her number one priority, but knows that giving children the confidence and self-esteem that Dance gave her is a close second. Traveling to over 27 schools has been and will continue to be a blessing, however, opening a studio has always been a dream for Jessica. It is now a reality! The Dance Moves Studio is opening on James Island Summer 2011. Jessica and her staff are so excited and cannot wait to offer even more classes to the public and to offer a place for her students to grow. She trains her staff to teach her curriculum with enthusiasm and makes sure that her program is represented with integrity, professionalism and knowledge.

Have fun, be creative, and be yourself…that is the message that the Dance Moves Program gives to children. Jessica is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her passion with the families of the Charleston area and is grateful for every moment. She cannot wait to see the next part of her journey!
