Bria Dickinson-Instructor

Bria Dickinson is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA degree in Dance. She performed at CU in the Faculty Dance Concert, the BFA Dance Concert, and has shown her own works in the Student Dance Concert and Choreographers Showcase. Originally from Maui, Bria has an appreciation for the Hawaiian culture and also dances Hula. She started teaching for Dance Moves in Fall 2010 and is thrilled to be on the Dance Moves team again this year!

Erica Scheldt-Instructor

Erica began her dance training at the age of 4 in Gallatin, TN. She has intensively studied ballet, tap, jazz, and modern. While attending the College of Charleston, she was a member of the Robert Ivey Ballet Company. Recently graduating with a B.S. in Psychology and Dance Minor from the College of Charleston, Erica is continuing her education by pursuing her Masters in Social Work at the University of South Carolina. This is Erica’s third season with Dance Moves.

Molly Coates

Molly Coates has been involved in the dance world since the age of 3. She has extensive training in classical ballet, jazz and tap. Molly was a member of the Robert Ivey Ballet Company for many years and a dance instructor for the last 6 years. She is a College of Charleston graduate with a biology degree and a minor in dance. She currently is attending the Citadel pursuing her Master’s Degree in Health and Exercise Science. Molly loves to share her passion for dance with the next generation of dancers through Dance Moves of Charleston!

Julie Delizza-Instructor

Julie DeLizza graduated in 2010 from the College of Charleston with majors in History and Secondary Education and a minor in Dance. She trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern in her hometown of Concord, NC, where she also taught ballet and tap. Since coming to Charleston in 2006, Julie has performed with the Robert Ivey Ballet Company and represented CofC by dancing at ACDF in 2007. She has shown choreography at the Piccolo Spelato Festival 2007, SCDA Convention 2008, and SCAPHERD Convention 2008. In 2010 Julie was chosen as a student choreographer for CofC’s annual Spring dance performance. This past Summer she spent two weeks at the Ballibay Performing Arts Camp in Pennsylvania as a guest choreographer and teacher with Annex, a modern dance company located in Charleston. Currently, Julie continues to dance professionally for Annex and is in her second semester as an intern and guest artist with the Wando High School Dance Department. This is Julie’s fifth season with Dance Moves, and she is incredibly happy to be teaching ballet, jazz/hip hop, and tap!

Lisa Dietz-Instructor

Lisa Boyle Dietz is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University’s Department of Dance with a BFA in Dance Education.  She has performed with coco dance group in Chicago as well as Louisville Ballet.  Lisa has taught all levels of ballet, modern and jazz in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.  She has had the opportunity to marry her passion for dance education with her belief in outreach and community service through her work with the Now & Next Dance Mentoring Project and BalletMet’s education outreach program, Momentum.  Lisa is thrilled to join Dance Moves and looks forward to continuing to grow as a dance artist and educator.

Jessie Maynard-Instructor

Jessie Maynard graduated in 2011 from Appalachian State
University in Boone, NC with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Dance Studies and
Sustainable Development.  During her time at Appalachian State, Jessie’s
choreography was selected to be performed at the North Carolina Dance Festival,
the Freshmen Showcase, and the Front of the Curtain Festival.
Throughout college Jessie was involved as a founding member of the
dance club Momentum, and eventually became the President during her senior
year.  She attended ACDFA in 2009 as a dancer and in 2010 as both a
choreographer and a dancer.  In 2010 Jessie studied technique and
choreography at the American Dance Festival under the instruction
of Mark Haim, Abby Yager, and Amanda Miller.  Jessie moved to Charleston
in August of 2011 and is incredibly excited to begin teaching with Dance Moves
and to share what has brought her so much joy with the next genereation of
movers!

Rebecca Warthen-Instructor

Rebecca began dancing at the age of 13 under Susan Anderson and Stacey Calvert at the University of South Carolina’s Conservatory program.  After a year she moved away to pursue ballet at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.  She then went on to train with Marcia Dale Weary at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and then became an apprentice with the North Carolina Dance Theater.  After dancing professionally with Columbia City Ballet, she moved to pursue a Sociology degree at the College of Charleston.  She believes that dancing is an activity that enhances self-worth, discipline, and encourages a child to bring beauty to the world.

Amanda Lowers-Dance Moves Manager

Amanda has been involved in the dance world since the age of 3.  She has years of training in ballet, jazz, and tap in WV and OH.  At the age of 8, she also took on competitive gymnastics, traveling up and down the east coast for numerous state, regional, and nationals club meets. While in college at Marshall University, Amanda worked as a choreographer and tumbling coach for high school, middle school, and pee wee cheerleading teams across the state of WV. Since then she has held leadership positions for companies such as Apple Inc. and L’Oreal USA. Today she is excited to have the opportunity to combine her management skills with her love of dance for the continuing growth of Dance Moves.

Cristina Gutierrez-Instructor

Miss Cristina is new to Charleston hailing from South Florida. She has trained in various forms of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern and Contemporary. Most recently Cristina trained with the Center for Contemporary Dance in Orlando, Florida. While in Orlando she attended the University of Central Florida and received her BA in Behavioral and Social Sciences/Health and Public Affairs. She also received her minor in Theatre. While in Orlando Cristina taught Dance and Theatre to at risk youth and is very excited to continue to extend her knowledge and love of teaching here at Dance Moves.
