Inspiring
Dancers Through Technical Skill + Body-Confidence
Hi, I’m Jessica Beran
Founder and Owner of Dance Moves Charleston, Mom of Two, and Happy, Longtime Resident of James Island!
I’m also a lifelong dancer after getting my first taste of movement and rhythm at the young age of 3.
It was then that I first understood the power of dance—the sense of security, the discipline, and the outlet it gave me to express myself. Not surprisingly, dance has remained a steadfast love in my life, eventually going on to get my BA from the University of South Carolina in Dance. In 2002, I opened Dance Moves of Charleston with a mission to help instill the same confidence and creative expression to students across the Lowcountry, while providing technical skill training and performance opportunities.
The Dance Moves Difference:
We are the premier dance studio for kids on James Island, offering a convenient location for busy parents and excited kids.
Classes and camps are non-competitive, energetic, and focused on fostering body-positivity
We offer pre-professional training and performance opportunities to help aspiring dancers gain the necessary exposure to various styles and choreography outside of traditional classes
What We Believe:
Dance is inclusive—it doesn’t discriminate against race, religion, or background.
There is no right “body type” for dance. Have a body? Find your beat and move to it!
As Martha Graham stated, "dance is the hidden language of the soul," and all souls are free to speak here.
